Administrators closed Hainesport Elementary School Monday over fears of the H1N1 virus, more commonly known as swine flu.
The school is the first in New Jersey to close due to the outbreak. The decision was made Sunday evening, following two students reporting flu-like symptoms.
?In this line of work, you always are on the side of caution, especially in dealing with kids? live and health,? says Superintendent Mark Silverstein. ?We want to minimize contact, get the building clean and minimize infection ? whatever may be out there.?
Hainesport Elementary was closed Monday and will remain closed Tuesday as cleaning crews disinfect the facilities.
