A manhunt for a suspect in the murder of an 8-month-old Clifton child ended in upstate New York Tuesday.
Prosecutors are in the process of extraditing Jose Flores Rivera from New York to Passaic County.
The prosecutor?s office, Clifton police and U.S. Marshals had all been looking for Rivera, a 22-year-old undocumented Mexican man who was living with the baby?s mother for the last six months.
Officials say the 8-month-year-old was beaten to death and placed in a stroller overnight. Apparently, the mother thought the child was asleep, but woke up to find that her baby was not breathing. The child was then rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead.
