It was a beautiful day for the nonprofit Clean Ocean Action to hold their 39th biannual Fall Beach Sweeps across the Jersey Shore.
Asbury Park was just one of 80 locations where people are hoping to make a change by picking up litter – one piece at a time.
The cleanup gives people a chance to give back by removing litter before it becomes harmful and even lethal to wildlife.
Data used from the cleanup has helped reduce waste on beaches and help do away with single-use plastic bags in the state.
Volunteers of all ages, like 10-year-old Madison Cuffe came out to leave a positive footprint on the environment.
"Instead of just littering and just not even caring, your helping cleaning it up…I think that helps teach the other people to stop littering,” said Cuffe.
