WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
The overnight looks mostly quiet, with just a few lingering clouds heading into Monday morning.
A cold front is on the way, bringing in a drier air mass and with it, a refreshing taste of fall to kick off the new week. Highs will stay in the 70s for the next few days, providing a break from the heat. The next chance for rain looks to be late Wednesday.
Erin weaken to a Category 3 as of Sunday afternoon. It’s cruising Northwest of Puerto Rico, but it’s expected to make a sharp turn northward along the East Coast. The good news? Erin isn’t expected to make landfall or pose a direct threat to any coastal towns or cities. However, the indirect impacts will definitely be felt, especially at the shoreline. The ocean is going to get rough, and conditions could start deteriorating as early as Tuesday night. Any beach plans next week, especially ones involving swimming, may want to be reconsidered. Local beaches could close for swimming due to dangerous surf and rip currents.
