Thursday was the last "dry" day for a while. Let me reiterate that while we are going into an unsettled spell of weather, no one day looks to be a complete statewide washout.

A warm front sits to our south and will slowly march through the state tonight. Clouds will continue to collect, and a few widely scattered storms are possible after midnight. As the front passes through, temperatures will warm dramatically again on Friday. Some neighborhoods could even flirt with 90 degrees.

The humidity will also be creeping up as well. So, it will feel much warmer out. Dress accordingly and if you are working outside, staying hydrated is very important. Taking breaks in the shade or AC will also be valuable.

A trailing cold front looks slower than previously forecasted. This means Friday isn't as stormy and the focus of steadier rains and storms now shifts to Saturday. A few of these storms might likely become severe with dangerous and damaging winds. It is something the News 12 Storm Watch Team will keep an eye on through the weekend.

After the front passes, we aren't clear of uncertain weather. An upper-level low storm will sit over the northeast for a few days. This translates into clouds, limited sun and periods of passing showers. No one day is wetter than the next, but it looks like there is greater than a 50% chance a shower could materialize during the day from Sunday through Wednesday.

I'm taking a glass-is-half-full approach with this scenario. The state desperately needs some moisture to slowly permeate into the groundwater to get us out of the enhanced fire danger we've been in for the last week or so.
