Drivers who are hard of hearing or speech-impaired in Suffolk County now have a new tool to help them in certain situations involving police.
County officials introduced a new vehicle visor card that is meant to help motorists tell officers that they are hard of hearing or speech-impaired during traffic stops or car accidents.
The cards are the latest addition to the police department's language access line.
It recently introduced an American Sign Language video chatting service.
The cards are available at Suffolk police precincts and online.
