A new study shows high asthma numbers for children in Newark, and as a result families are questioning the air quality.

The study shows that Newark children are three times more likely to have asthma, especially near the city's Ironbound neighborhood, which is surrounded by industrial plants, heavy traffic and a trash incinerator.

Air pollution is one of the major causes of asthma, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

Air monitors are being placed around the area in an effort to determine how to improve conditions, with results expected within two weeks.
