A group of elementary school students is taking it upon themselves to help raise money for their school library.

The student council at Valley Road Elementary School in Clark set up a lemonade stand outside the school in order to raise money to put up a “little library” outside of the school. The school library was previously closed due to overcrowding.

The lemonade stand idea came from fourth-grader Chris Passuth. He promised the fundraiser when he campaigned for student council last fall.

"I felt like we needed a free little library so kids could come and take a book and then when they’re done, put it back. Or if kids who don’t have enough money to go to the library could come here and get a book.”

The students say that they hope to raise $600 for the little library. The teachers say that if they do not raise enough money this year, the fundraiser can continue for the upcoming year.
