The danger of deadly rip currents increases as the summer comes to an end, and for those trying to squeeze in their last vacation days at the beach it could be a rough week.
News 12 meteorologist Justin Godynick says the rip currents are strong due to the wind coming off the ocean as well as a developing tropical system off the coast of Florida. He also says the waves are crashing about 3 to 4 feet.
Asbury Park beach safety supervisor Joe Bongiovanni says the rip current warning remains in effect through Sunday evening and could be extended into the week.
Red flags to indicate swimming isn't allowed have been spotted from Cape May to Sandy Hook. Asbury Park also isn't allowing swimming due to the current unless the conditions change.
