There was a strange sight in Paterson Tuesday after an emu was seen walking around town.

It is unsure how the animal got there, or where it came from.

Residents were quick to call animal control.

"I don't see too many of them,” says Chief Animal Control Officer John Decando. “The only ones I see are in cartoons or on TV or something. Actually, it was kind of funny, but it is safely put away in back of the animal control truck now and it is going to be transported to the Franklin Lakes Animal Hospital -- where they already have someone to care for this animal."

DeCando joked that the emu looked like it was overdue for a haircut.
