A statue of Christopher Columbus that stands in West Orange will soon come down.
"The legend of Columbus does not match the history today, the man, the statue, monuments celebrating his life are divisive, a symbol of hate, and oppression,” says Mayor Robert Paris. “It cannot remain as part of our community."
