Authorities: Canadian fugitive on the run for 17 years arrested at Newark Liberty Int’l Airport

One of Canada’s 10 most wanted criminals was arrested earlier this week at Newark Liberty International Airport.
The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) says that 47-year-old Parthasarthie Kapoor was arrested Monday after being on the run for more than 17 years. Kapoor was wanted in connection with a 2003 arrest warrant issued on several changes, including sexual assault and the production of child pornography.
Canadian authorities say that Kapoor allegedly sexually assaulted a total of five boys in Montréal. He targeted young boys between the ages of 7 and 14, lured them into his home and then sexually assaulted them, authorities say. Officials say that this happened during a period between 1998 and 2003.
SPVM officials say that Kapoor was attempting to fly to India, his home country, when he was arrested. He is currently in custody in New Jersey pending extradition.
