A New Jersey animal refuge is looking for a foster family for a terminally ill dog.
The folks at the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge say that Autumn is a 7-year-old Rottweiler with a soft disposition.
“She’s absolutely incredible,” says adoption counselor Alexandra Heaney.
Autumn had been living outside before she was surrendered to the shelter, and it turns out that she has a terminal disease.
“She was diagnosed with bone cancer and it has spread to her chest, so we know her time is limited,” says Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge executive director Megan Brinster.
Brinster says that the public has been great to Autumn, donating toys and treats. But she says that what they really need is a foster home for the dog.
“We can’t change her medical diagnosis,” says Brinster, “We can let her know the last part of her life is going to be full of love.
More information about how to foster Autumn can be found on the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge website.
