Almost two months after the fire at the Marcal Paper Mill in Elmwood Park, first responders are being rewarded for their work.
The borough announced that each of the first responders will receive a stipend for working during the disaster.
Fifty-three volunteer firefighters and 15 ambulance corps members stayed for days after the blaze. They’re expected to split $33,000.
The fire left the Paper Mill in ruins and 500 people without a job.
