An American Legion post in Hoboken that was destroyed by Superstorm Sandy is on track to be rebuilt five years later.
The city of Hoboken will partner with the American Legion to rebuild American Legion Post 107, located at 308 Second St. The new structure will be elevated to protect it from future flooding. It will also include six residential housing units for homeless veterans.
"Today we aren't just staying ‘Thank you,’ we are taking real action to support our veterans, to help rebuild Post 107,” says Mayor Dawn Zimmer.
The American Legion is also privately raising additional funds to cover expenses such as furniture, appliances and other amenities for veterans who will reside in these units.
