Friday was the third and final day of temperatures well above the average. There was no official heat wave, meaning neither Trenton, Newark, Atlantic City or Sussex airports had three consecutive days of 90 degrees or hotter.
However, a few New Jersey neighborhoods did. Toms River (Miller Park airport), Edison, Somerville and Denville all had three consecutive days of 90 degrees.
Passing thunderstorms will continue along a very slow-moving weather system just off to our west. Isolated, drenching downpours with thunder and lightning will briefly grace a few New Jersey neighborhoods.
Unfortunately, this persistent, unsettled weather pattern will continue into the weekend. Saturday looks to be the stormier day of the two. Saturday will not be a washout, but there will be storms we will have to navigate our plans around.
Sunday looks a little more overcast. Possible misty moments at times but for the most part dry throughout the day.
The next real shot of soaking statewide rains will be on Tuesday.
