ALERTS: Winter Weather Advisory for northern Fairfield County until 4 p.m. today
FORECAST: The last chance to see snow before Christmas is today. While it may look pretty, please be aware that wet snow will actively be falling around western Connecticut this morning. Temperatures will be close to freezing and then rise through the morning. This means the snow will be very wet and messy and most of it should melt on the roads, but colder surfaces can definitely see up to 2 inches accumulate.
Give yourself more time to travel today. The snow showers will continue until around 3-5 p.m. this afternoon. This minor, quick-moving storm will slow things down. Watch for slick spots and dress for the weather.
Temperatures will rise well above freezing this afternoon, so expect melting to occur. Temperatures tonight will stay above freezing closer to the I-95 corridor, but areas north of the Merritt may have cooler spots, so watch for patchy ice heading into Wednesday.
Wednesday will be sunny, dry and milder. Temperatures will return to the mid-40s. Thursday for Christmas looks quiet as well.
Watching the next storm system Friday into Saturday with the potential for more significant amounts of snow for some. Be sure to stay with News 12 Connecticut for the latest on your holiday travel weather.
