Extreme heat returns for final days of July in New Jersey
19ds agoWHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- Today has warm temperatures with humidity being felt throughout the day. Expect cloudy skies at first then more sunshine as time goes on. Much of the region stays rain-free throughout the day, but showers will try to pop up and move in from the west.
- Sunday has more warmth moving into the region, and with the humidity still hanging around, it will feel sticky through the day. A chance of isolated showers or a storm is possible in the afternoon hours.
- Next week starts off with a mix of sun and clouds, less humidity and milder temperatures coming in. There will be some changes by midweek.
- TROPICS: Hurricane Erin has strengthened to a major hurricane, the first one of the season, as it makes it's way north of the Lesser Antilles. It is forecast to curve away from the Greater Antilles (north of Dominican Republic) and away from the Bahamas over the weekend and into early next week. The forecast cone has it going between the East Coast of the US and Bermuda into midweek next week. While a direct impact via a landfall is not in the forecast for us, the system will bring gusty winds and rough surf to our coastal areas. The timeframe for wind and wave activity to increase will be from Wednesday into Thursday.

SUNDAY: Mostly sunny with an isolated shower chance popping up. Highs: mid 80s. Lows: upper 60s.
MONDAY: Mix of sun and clouds. Highs: upper 70s. Lows: low 60s.
TUESDAY: Partly sunny and breezy at times. Highs: upper 70s. Lows: mid 60s.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy with scattered rain shower chances and breezy winds at times. Highs: mid 70s. Lows: upper 50s to low 60s.
THURSDAY: Partly cloudy with breezy to windy conditions. Highs: mid 70s. Lows: low 60s.
FRIDAY: Lots of sun. Highs: upper 70s to low 80s. Lows: mid 60s.
