Storms settle, but the weather remains warm and humid overnight

Super summer weather is returning for the rest of the week. It's hot, but it's manageable.

Severe weather left its mark across the state this evening.
Torrential rains developed in an extremely tropical airmass. Outflow from thunderstorms clashed with the sea breeze, which created an "extra" lift to an already unstable airmass.
Once that boundary was established, it rained. And it rained a lot. I saw some social media reports from trained National Weather Service spotters that accumulated 4.25 inches of rain in a few hours. That kind of rain leads to significant street flooding.
The storms are passing, but there will be a few lingering showers through the overnight, which would slow the receding flood waters down. By morning, the standing water should be gone.
The sun will eventually pop through, temperatures will warm to seasonable levels in the mid- to upper 80s, and the humidity is back to bearable.
Looking ahead to the holiday weekend couldn't look any better. Sunny and warm from Friday through Monday
