Homeowners and renters waiting for Stay NJ property tax payments can expect to receive that money next week.

Payments are scheduled to begin rolling out starting Monday.

The Stay NJ program offers property tax benefits to eligible homeowners age 65 and older. The program reimburses 50% of a property tax bill, up to a maximum of $13,000, with a 2025 benefit cap of $6,500.

To qualify, applicants must have owned and lived in their home for the full 12 months of 2025 and have an income below $500,000. Homeowners who made payments in lieu of taxes to their municipality are also eligible.

Residents 65 and older, disabled homeowners and mobile homeowners can apply for Senior Freeze and Stay NJ by filing a single application.

Mobile homeowners are not eligible for the Stay NJ benefit.

The deadline to apply for the programs is November of this year.
