Troopers with the New Jersey State Police rescued two dogs that were accidentally locked inside of a hot minivan.
State police say it happened Aug. 11 at the Walt Whitman Service Area on the New Jersey Turnpike. They say that the dog owner had stopped to let the dogs out of the van for a walk, but as she got out she realized she locked the keys inside.
Police say that the woman called 911 because it was so hot outside and the dogs were heavily panting.

Troopers arrived and broke the window to the minivan and unlocked the doors. The dogs were removed from the van and were not injured.
State police say that the incident serves as a good reminder to make sure that one has their keys before leaving their vehicle, especially if pets or young children are inside.
