Gov. Jon Corzine's administration unveiled more than $800 million in state budget cuts Monday, in a move designed just to sustain the Garden State through 2009.
New Jersey Treasurer Dave Rousseu and his staff say they've settled on $812 million in cuts so far to help deal with the state's $2 billion deficit.
Every department of government will be hit by the cuts. State workers are additionally being asked to agree to an 18-month wage freeze, but union leaders oppose the proposal.
Included on the chopping block are property tax rebates, funds to help renters and the school breakfast program.
"We haven't stopped," says Rousseu. "We continue to look for savings wherever we can find savings."
