New Jersey state police say four people killed following a crash involving a tanker truck and a sedan on the Garden State Parkway have been identified.
The crash was reported around 2:50 a.m. Wednesday in the southbound lanes near mile marker 81.5 in Toms River.
Police say the car driven by 21-year-old Kevin Quispe-Prieto, of Beachwood, slammed into the back of the tanker, pinning the car underneath.
Quispe-Prieto and three passengers - Jimmy Quispe-Prieto and Robert Ordenana, both 23, and 24-year-old Victor Lugo, all of Lakewood - were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities haven't said whether any of the four victims were related.
It's not clear if the tanker was moving at the time. The tanker driver suffered minor injuries.
Authorities shut down some lanes as they investigated the crash for several hours, causing travel delays in the area. All lanes have since been reopened.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
