What a start to the spring break with spring really springing today and tomorrow.
Most neighborhoods in New Jersey climbed into the mid- to upper-60s on Monday, except for the shore. It was pleasant but stuck in the mid- to upper-50s at the shore. Tuesday will likely be warmer with a favorable wind from the south/southwest and plenty of early March sunshine.
I can't stress this enough. The sun is gaining altitude. Tomorrow's UV Index is expected to be a 5. Moderate but capable of producing a sunburn. Make sure you get into a habit of putting on sunscreen before venturing outside. Your skin will thank you later.
Winds will eventually change direction for the middle of the week, coming in off the ocean. This will cool things down a touch - back to the 50s for most of us. A weak weather system will clip the area late Tuesday night, possibly dragging a few sprinkles across the region as a result. Onshore winds and cloud coverage will keep temps in the 50s for the remainder of the week.
By the weekend, those favorable winds from the Carolinas will once again warm temperatures back up into the 60s. We'll be tracking a decent shot of much-needed rain for late Sunday into early Monday morning. Will the luck of the Irish be on our side and have those showers out of here before daybreak on Monday? Time will tell.
Spring is just 10 days away - March 20 at 5:01 a.m. The sun will be directly over the equator heading into the northern hemisphere. The days are getting longer. The temperatures are beginning to warm up.
