My guest on Spotlight New Jersey on a Filipino food truck in central Jersey called 12, Josh McGauchie and Jeffrey Fama are also cousins. The name and design on their truck represents all 12 cousins in their family and their relationship growing up. On that really hot Wednesday this week, they parked in front of News 12. They took me inside for a tour. So we're gonna go in and uh show you what we do in this truck. Let's go, Ms. De la Cruz, just be careful. All right. Just take your time. Thank you. There you go. Oh, I love it in here. This is a nice big kitchen. It's a full kitchen here. Yeah. So this is where we do our mini pork egg rolls handmade by him. So that's lumpia. It's like a mini pork egg rolls. It's one of the top items in the Philippines. Um, that's one of our favorite items. We sell like bunch of loads during festivals. Now what's in it? So there's pork, there's carrots, scallions, and a little bit of our secret recipe we're gonna tell you that's grandma's recipe's recipe. no no no don't want you to get. Then this is our poet. Which is our chicken and veggie stir fry noodles has carrots, cabbage, uh, celery, onions, and chicken, and two types of noodles. This is usually a filler upper, so people are asking, what should I eat? I want, you know, I want to get filled up. It's usually the poet because, you know, the carbs. That looks like it's good for you, of course we do vegetarian options too. This is. Our barbecue skewers or meat on the stick, so we offer pork and chicken. And the recipe and like the family recipe so. And it's not a typical Filipino skewer usually you see the the thin skewers that uh they they serve up. We love to feed people, so we got big fat juicy chunks of meat on there so that people are are are filled with it. Man smells good too. This is our. One of our top selling items, it's called the ube banana pudding. So, it's a purple yam in the Philippines, but people asking us like how does it taste like? Just think about just eating like a sweet potato, but it's just purple. So in the bottom is a homemade cookie crumble. Then we put our homemade banana pudding, then we put actually slice up bananas, more. And then we for a top we sell this and the reason why we, we did it is because of one of our nieces, uh, her name is Monroe who asked us to make an ube banana pudding, and first off we were like, you gotta tell your teacher Joy that if we could do it. And then from there, uh, she was like, go ahead and make it and we made a uba banana pudding which we call mrube after to honor her niece Monroe sweet love that.

This weekend we're putting the spotlight on a food truck that makes authentic Filipino food based on family recipes. 12 is based in Central Jersey. It's owned by Josh McGloy and Jeffrey Fama, who are cousins. They travel throughout the Northeast. Tell me where you all go with your food truck around New Jersey. So we go everywhere in New Jersey, um, New York City, you know, Pennsylvania. A couple of weeks ago we went to Virginia, we're just his hometown, and that was success. Northern Virginia, all that, yes, um, we do a lot of festivals, a lot of catering, so, um. If you need some caterings or you need the festival, uh just email us at mclocky. That's around the central Jersey like Union we do Union's Farmers' Market every other Thursday. Uh we do Highland Park 99% of the time we're at their farmers' market every Friday and then on Tuesdays we started Cole Street Market, um, which is every Tuesday, um, in Jersey City. We go all over the place. How busy are you? It depends. It depends on the weather. Obviously, when it's raining, you know, some of these, um, some of these, um, events, they cancel on us, but we try to get busy. We try to be, uh, open up like 5 days a week. So, um, like my cousin, he, uh, posted the schedule, um, Sunday night or Monday morning for the weekly schedule. So people know where we're at because we're in different places and different uh areas when it's hot on a day like, oh my God, how do you manage? You drink the water. I try. We, we make sure we have our own case of water, uh, cold, fresh water for us, so like, uh, nonstop, especially whoever is at the grill, we call her Bertha. You get a sque down a bit. What action do you get from your customers? So our first timers, uh, we love it. Like people who've never tried Filipino food, um, they come back to us and they're like, that, that's something amazing that you guys do, uh, the dishes that, you know, they've eaten, which is, uh, usually the skewer, the lumbia, the poet, um, or the whole combo. So we also have a whole combo for it, uh, and when when they eat and they come back to us, they're just like that that was truly amazing and delicious.
