The scorching conditions that New Jersey saw on Tuesday drove many residents to look for places to cool off. And one Camden County attraction has reopened just in the nick of time.
“It’s terrible, but the water is helping,” says Shirly Deas, of Willingboro.
Deas was one of many people at Clementon Park and Splash World trying to stay cool.
“My grandkids left me. They went off to go on the rides. But they left me and I saw shade and I saw down and I’m not moving until they come back,” says Deas.
Once shuttered, the amusement and water park reopened once again after being bought by Indiana Beach Holdings. Now the team members are working around the clock to bring every ride back online.
"Right now, we have the waterpark open, we have a few rides that are open. We do have a limited ride capacity right now just due to the fact that we're waiting on some parts and getting everything open safely,” says general manager Daniel Jankovitz.
The roller coaster and log flume will be the last to open. But parkgoers say that it’s the nostalgia of the 114-year-old attraction that keeps them coming back.
"Way before they closed, I used to come here all the time with my oldest grandson and I heard it on the news that they were opening up again and I thought we’ve got to go there. I promised my grandkids that I would bring them here,” says Deas
Park officials say that they are expecting a busy weekend ahead of the Fourth of July holiday. Tickets for the park can be pre-purchased online.
