The South Bound Brook Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of their own.
Officials say Deputy Chief Craig M. Konkle suffered a sudden medical emergency over the weekend after responding to a crash on Barber Boulevard.
Konkle, 54, had been a firefighter with the department since 2013.
He was a Somerset County 200 Club Valor Award recipient for a lifesaving rescue performed in 2017.
Konkle leaves behind a wife and two children.
