Members of the New Jersey National Guard 50th Infantry Brigade Combat Team returned home Friday morning after spending the past year in Iraq.
After touching down at McGuire Air Force Base, the troops made their way to Fort Dix to be reunited with their families.
Family members told News 12 New Jersey that they were able to keep in touch with their loved ones through e-mail on a daily basis while they were stationed overseas.
After the reunion Friday, officials say the troops and families will spend another 10 days apart as the citizen soldiers go through a debriefing period at Fort Dix.
