News 12 is checking road conditions in the state and talking to New Jersey residents about how they are handling the winter weather.
In Chester, the snowfall brought smiles rather than stress, as families bundled up and headed outdoors. Children were seen sledding while parents watched nearby, turning the snowy day into a chance for quality family time.
While many were able to enjoy the snow, others were still hard at work. Several local businesses were seen shoveling sidewalks and clearing entrances to keep walkways safe.
Despite slushy roads and icy conditions, many residents said the weather only added to the charm of the day.
“I like to go in the snow in my front yard. I like to go sledding too,” said Sadie and Madeline, Chester residents.
Eric Dornfeld, of Long Valley, said his family embraces winter weather.
“We love the snow,” Dornfeld said. “My kids snowboard, they’re in ski club. We went to the diner this morning, we had pancakes and French toast and then came out sledding here.”
Residents are encouraged to use caution while traveling as crews continue to monitor road conditions.
