East Brunswick officials are urging people to clear snow from their fire hydrants after a truck erupted in flames, nearly damaging several homes.

The fast response from the East Brunswick Police Department and the Brookview Volunteer Fire Company prevented the flames from spreading.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, leaving the home with only minor damage to its siding and driveway.

Neighbors say the snow-covered fire hydrants during the response raised concerns about accessibility and safety if a larger emergency unfolded.
