Fair Lawn in Bergen County came to a stop Friday morning thanks to a small bear.
It climbed a tree right at the heart of the business district near Fair Lawn and Eastern avenues.
The bear was first spotted around 7 a.m. Neighbors say he took a bit of a stroll and then climbed up the tree, hanging out there for hours.
The bear is said to be just under 2 years old and 132 pounds. Animal officials tranquilized him in the neck and he came down safely.
Neighbors were surprised to see the bear roaming through area.
Animal officials say the bear has come down from the New York area before. They speculate he may heading toward the Delaware River, trying to escape larger bears. They plan to release him closer to Delaware.
