Slain NYPD officer Didarul Islam remembered as ‘hardworking’ veteran officer with family

Officials have identified the slain officer as Didarul Islam, 36, of the 47th Precinct in the Edenwald section of The Bronx.

A mass shooting in midtown Manhattan has left four people dead, including an almost four-year veteran of the NYPD.
Officials have identified the slain officer as Didarul Islam, 36, of the 47th Precinct in the Edenwald section of The Bronx. Police sources tell News 12 Islam lived in Parkchester.
Tributes to Islam and the other victims are already growing.
A memorial is growing for victims of the shooting.
Islam leaves behind a wife and a growing family. He was shot while off duty working security at a midtown high-rise.
PBA President Patrick Hendry reflected on the loss and said, “He was a hardworking police officer who was proud we know from hearing from his family to put on that uniform and shield... he went out every single day to provide for his family whether it was overtime or whatever he had to do, that’s what he did on a daily basis."
