After a Women's World Cup win, a ticker-tape parade in Manhattan, keys to New York City and countless media interviews, Team USA's celebration continues into the women's professional soccer season.
Christie Rampone, of Point Pleasant, is a defender of the New Jersey-based Sky Blue FC and the captain of the United States women's national soccer team. She is not just the winner of one World Cup, but two after her team's victory in 1999.
Three other World Cup winners were expected to be at Sky Blue's Saturday game against Portland Thorns FC.
Sky Blue general manager Tony Novo says he is excited to have his World Cup winners back on the team.
Head coach Jim Gabarra says he hopes the girls' win brings more exposure to the league.
