Skate 22 in Union closed six months ago after a young boy was killed, but Thursday it opened its doors to roller skaters again.
Jean D?Haiti, 16, was shot and killed following a private skate party last December when a group of teenagers got into a fight. Police eventually arrested JaQuan Bell for the killing, who is now awaiting trial, but Skate 22 was shut down shortly after the incident.
Union County has allowed the reopening with the stipulation that there will be no more private parties. Phillip Walker, owner of Skate 22, also had to outline his security plan in detail prior to the reopening.
Walker says his security staff won?t be doing anything differently than they were the night of the shooting.
