A new Siena poll for the governor’s race shows Gov. Kathy Hochul beating Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman by 10 points.

Hochul has a significant lead on issues such as affordability and housing. She is winning by a smaller margin on public safety, immigration and New York’s energy future.

Blakeman’s net score in the poll’s character trait questioning beats Hochul. When asked whether a set of traits do or do not describe the competitors, voters indicated that Blakeman is “in touch with average New Yorkers”, “honest” and “gets things done.”

Hochul’s overall lead against Blakeman is 49% to 39%, according to the poll. This is lower than the last poll published in June, which showed her having a 20-point advantage with a lead of 52% to 32%.

Blakeman released the following statement in response to the new poll:

“All of the polls we have seen in the last two months have us virtually tied with Kathy Hochul. This poll is always off and continues to be off. We know and she knows this race is neck and neck. Kathy Hochul is desperate for people to believe that she is way ahead when she knows that her high taxes, soaring electric bills, and increased crime have made her the worst governor in America.”
