(AP) - Authorities say a group of bankrobbery suspects exchanged gunfire with police in New Brunswickafter a pursuit through several central New Jersey communities.
The Home News Tribune of East Brunswick reports that at leasttwo suspects were wounded in a shootout near St. Peter's UniversityHospital in New Brunswick. Those suspects and two others werearrested.
Police told the newspaper the wounded suspects did not appear tohave life-threatening injuries. No police officers or bystanderswere reported injured.
Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne Forrest says bandits hit a Bankof America branch on Route 27 in Franklin Township shortly before 6p.m. Thursday.
Police told the newspaper that cash stolen from the bank wasrecovered from a van the suspects abandoned near the hospital inNew Brunswick.
