Many New Jersey residents put off their holiday shopping in anticipation of sales and discounts on Saturday and the remaining days before Christmas.

Local stores and malls planned to accommodate late shoppers this season in an effort to raise sales and increase shopper turnout during the tough economic times. According to Macy?s Store manager Karen Brooks-Myers, the Macy?s at Menlo Park Mall will be open 24 hours a day from Saturday to Christmas Eve. It is one of 13 stores in the area to offer 24-hour service.

Brooks-Myers says the store has been preparing for these days all year. The motivation behind the 24-hour days was to allow people who work all types of shifts to have convenient shopping times. This is the first year the store will be open for 24 hours.
