Severe thunderstorms tore through New Jersey Thursday afternoon and evening, drenching the state in heavy amounts of rain and knocking out power to thousands of people.
The storms caused the National Weather Service to issue two separate tornado warnings in the southern half of the state Thursday evening.
At the height of the storm, more than 10,000 people were left without power. Hundreds of customers were still dealing with outages as of Thursday night.
Toms River saw the bulk of those power outages. JCP&L crews were out making repairs. Crews tell News 12 New Jersey that the bulk of the power was restored Thursday night.
Other parts of the state saw some localized flooding caused by heavy rain.
News 12 meteorologists say that some rain will remain into early Friday morning.
