A series of severe thunderstorms passed through New Jersey on Wednesday evening.
The storms produced heavy rain, strong winds, and thunder and lightning.
The conditions caused damage in parts of the state and knocked out power to thousands of New Jersey residents.
More than 29,000 customers were left without power at the height of the storm. Utility crews were out making repairs. Power is expected to be returned by Thursday morning.
The heavy rain also caused flooding in some areas, prompting flash flood warnings.
The storms come as New Jersey deals with periods of intense heat. Excessive heat warnings are in effect for parts of the state through Thursday evening.
