Along with the start of school, September is also the peak season for asthma.
Doctors say asthma is common in September because this is when asthma triggers like mold, ragweed and other viral infections are in the air.
Asthma symptoms include difficulty breathing while exercising, chest pain, coughing at night and wheezing. Parents are urged to get their children to a doctor for a proper diagnosis, as waiting can cause more health problems.
Doctors say once children are diagnosed, it's important to also stay on top of treatment.
