Senate President Nicholas Scutari says he’s not convinced New Jersey needs “same day” voter registry, and the push to change the way people vote in New Jersey may be dead in the water.
Gov. Phil Murphy is the one pushing the idea of letting people who registered the same day cast their vote.
But standing in the way is Scutari, who says he's not totally convinced the idea is necessary.
His support is needed in order to get lawmakers to vote.
Under current law, all New Jersey voters need to be registered up to three weeks before Election Day.
