Senate Democrats say they have offered a temporary olive branch to Republicans in their ongoing power struggle.
Democrats say the Senate should set aside the question of who runs the chamber so it can get to bills that are set to expire on Tuesday.
Bills dealing with mayoral control of New York City schools and same-sex marriage are not expected to be taken up.
