Senator Hillary Clinton was on the campus of Rutgers University in New Brunswick Friday to urge young women to get involved in politics.
Clinton was not on the campus to campaign. Her speech was part of the 35th anniversary of the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers.
In part of her speech, Clinton acknowledged the admirable way members of the Rutgers women?s basketball team conducted themselves during the Don Imus incident. Clinton said the team was an example of what women can do when they decide to speak out against intolerance and injustice.
?These players and their coach have taken a truly ugly moment and transformed it into a transcendent one,? said Clinton.
The senator?s address ended with several seconds of silence to honor the victims of the Virginia Tech massacre.
The Center for American Women and Politics tracks and studies the contributions women make through elected office.
