(AP) - A newly released security camera tape shows US Airways Flight 1549 from right after it splashed into the Hudson River until after the last of the 155 passengers and crew members were rescued.
The tape from the Consolidated Edison utility runs 47 minutes - the longest video of what's been called the Miracle on the Hudson. It shows ferries, police and fire boats and other craft clustered around as people are plucked from the wings of the floating plane. Flight 1549 collided with birds after takeoff from LaGuardia Airport last week and lost power in both engines. The captain guided the Airbus A320 to a landing aviation experts called a heroic feat. Everyone aboard survived.
Con Ed spokesman Chris Olert says the tape was recorded by a camera on Manhattan's west side. It begins with the plane having just hit the water at 3:25 p.m.
