Each year fires occurring during the holiday season claim the lives of over 400 people, injure 1,650 more, and cause over $990 million in damage nationwide, according to the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA).

Each year fires occurring during the holiday season claim the lives of over 400 people, injure 1,650 more, and cause over $990 million in damage nationwide, according to the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA).
The USFA says there are life-saving steps people can take to ensure a safe and happy holiday.

*Make sure candles are in sturdy containers*Never put candles on a Christmas tree*Never leave candles unattended

Holiday Lights
*Maintain your holiday lights*Do not overload electrical outlets*Do not leave holiday lights on unattended
The USFA also urges everyone to have working smoke alarms installed on every level of your home, test them monthly and keep them clean and equipped with fresh batteries at all times.
