A decision on whether or not to allow dogs on the Seaside Heights Boardwalk has been put on hold.
The mayor's office presented the plan to possibly allow leashed dogs onto the boardwalk, but Mayor Anthony Vaz has now recommended tabling the ordinance.
The ordinance would have allowed dogs on the boardwalk from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the summer season. It would not have allowed dogs on beaches or in swimming areas.
The plan was drafted as part of a pilot program for the Seaside Heights Boardwalk to experiment with the idea.
But because the ordinance was drafted, it will have to be read at next week's council meeting.
