A high anticipated voter turnout has pushed a handful of schools serving as polling places to close on Election Day.

"I think we're probably gonna see 90 percent turnout," says Patricia Di Costanzo, Bergen County Superintendent of Elections. "I just want to try and cover all the bases that we can, and the safety of the children, as an ex-PTA president, is huge to me."

Schools will be closed on Nov. 4 in Bogota, Cliffside, Elmwood, Englewood, Hackensack, Palisades, Teaneck and Tenafly.

Despite the county's recommendation to cancel classes, some schools will remain open. Glen Rock Superintendent George Connelly will keep schools open, saying he doesn't expect a much higher turnout than the last major election.

More than 60,000 new voters have registered in Bergen County prior to this election.
