Sayreville schools deploy AI gun detection system
Superintendent Dr. Richard Labbe said the district is using the technology to help identify potential threats early and respond urgently.
Sayreville Borough School District has deployed an AI gun detection system as part of its school security strategy, according to ZeroEyes, a security technology company.
The company announced Tuesday that its weapons detection and situational awareness platform is now being used in the Middlesex County district, which serves about 6,500 students and has about 750 staff members across 10 buildings.
ZeroEyes says its software works with existing digital security cameras to identify visible guns. If a possible gun is detected, images are sent to the company’s operations center for review. If the threat is verified, alerts can be sent to law enforcement and school security teams within seconds, according to the company.
The system will also be integrated with Singlewire’s InformaCast incident management software, allowing alerts to be distributed across multiple devices.
