It was an emotional service in Newark on Saturday morning as mourners remembered Sayreville Councilwoman Eunice Dwunfour.
The Republican councilwoman was gunned down outside her home in Sayreville on Feb. 1.
Family, friends and loved ones, including her 12-year-old daughter Nicole Fatima Teliano, gathered at Bethany Baptist Church in Newark, where Dwunfour was born.
"Mom, your death left me in so much pain and sadness in my heart," Teliano said. "Your sweet voice still lingers in my head and in my heart. I know you're looking down on me as a beautiful sweet angel with a great smile on."

"There are no answers yet as to how this happened? Who's responsible? What was the motive?" said former Assemblyman and Sayreville native John Wisniewski.
Dwumfour's parents and siblings hired Wisniewski as their attorney. The family has been frustrated by the investigation's slow progress. Wisniewski said investigators have promised to meet with the family this upcoming week.
Parishioners at the funeral prayed for a break in the case and for Dwumfour's killer to be finally unmasked.
The service took place on what would have been Dwumfour's 31st birthday.
