Before the fun and games can start at summer fairs throughout the Garden State, safety inspectors will make sure each and every attraction is working properly.
State inspectors headed to East Brunswick Monday to check rides one by one at the Middlesex County Fair. Inspectors check each individual seat on each ride, including the Zipper, Tilt-a-Whirl and the Carousel.
Inspectors say sometimes they find things wrong with the rides that can be fixed quickly, such as a broken light bulb. However, they say they won?t hesitate to shut a ride down if it?s not safe. One inspector says there are two rides shut down at the State Fair in Sussex County.
State inspectors say the company running the rides at the Middlesex County Fair has an excellent track record.
The State Fair is currently underway. The Middlesex County Fair begins Monday night and the Somerset County Fair starts next week.
